Teste de Águas Cinzas (Gray Water Testing)

Gray Water Testing

Greywater — also known as non-sewage sanitary wastewater — is generated from sinks, showers, washbasins, bathtubs, washing machines, dishwashers, and other domestic and industrial systems. Although it may appear less harmful than sewage, greywater contains detergents, oils, organic waste, and chemicals, which can cause serious impacts on the marine environment when discharged without proper treatment.

The discharge of untreated greywater can:

  • Reduce dissolved oxygen levels in the sea
  • Contribute to the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and viruses
  • Increase nutrient levels (such as nitrogen and phosphorus), leading to eutrophication and imbalances in coastal ecosystems

In light of this, the Vessel General Permit (VGP) requires certain vessels to carry out periodic sampling and analysis of greywater discharges, monitoring specific parameters and reporting the results in their annual reports.

Lan Maritime Lab offers a specialized solution for greywater monitoring, including:

  • Technical onboard sampling
  • Accurate and reliable laboratory analysis
  • Compliance with VGP requirements and applicable environmental guidelines

Our commitment is to provide full support to vessels so they can operate with environmental responsibility and in accordance with international sustainability standards.
